Especially in crisis-ridden Greece, there is the emerging necessity to develop a social economy and to support those businesses that promote social participation and cohesion, expand democracy, give emphasis on local production and consumption, have ecological direction, and provide social innovation. The Guide for the Creation of Social Enterprises aspires to fill a gap in information about the nature of a social cooperative enterprise and offer information for the practical problems that face those interested in the creation of social enterprises.
